Introducing Natashia S.

My name is Natashia. I am currently a student at CSUSM, preparing to get my teaching credential. I grew up in Murrieta, CA. I started school at Brentwood Montessori from 1-6. During the middle of my 6th grade, the teacher was fired from the school. My parents really liked the teacher so we opened up a school, Young Scholars Academy, so that she could teach my sister and me, as well as all of the other students who did well under her. She ended up embezzling from us and we shut down the school. I then transfered to a school on the same campus, The Carden Academy. I finished out my 7th and 8th grade years there. My teachers then told me to skip high school and go to college, not to waste the four years. SO, as a "high school student" I attended MSJC and Palomar College. After finishing my general education, I transfered to CSU Long Beach. I graduated in 2007 with a BA in Journalism. Now I must be crazy because I am back at school to teach school. Tada, my education history.
I am a PC user. I do a lot of work at my job on a Vista PC. I have had very little experience on a Mac but I am not "afraid" to use it. During my years at CSULB, I helped to revamp and design the Journalism department website. As far as Office programs, I am familiar with '03.
In the College of Education Mission Statement, the part that spoke to me most was the last sentence. "Our practices demonstrate a commitment to student-centered education,
diversity, collaboration, professionalism, and shared governance." It tells us exactly what we will be learning about and eventually incorporating into our own classrooms, with any luck.
